“Supporting Multilingual Instruction, Learning, and Engagement in Science (SMILES), will consist of six (6) foci: (1) the implementation of the CA NGSS; (2) equitable grading practices; (3) use of rubrics for assessment; (4) hands-on inquiry discussion; (5) promoting sense-making through discourse; (6) community-driven topics.
